Bitwig • Re: BitWig 5.2 improvements - just a question to all those that sent a 'Please do this' to BitWig

Evrything. They added all this functionality in 5.2 and it is BASIC functionality. Bitwig as a daw is as simple as a shoe. Its great for sound design and toying aroud. As a daw it missing pretty much every single feature one would expect from DAW in 2024. And devs dont give a care about it. People who set up bitwig used to work for ableton and worked there in marketing department. The same culture they have set up in new company. Program need to look good from marketing perspective, not user experience perpective. Hence why we have a couple of great decisions (midi past instrument, sandboxing, PDC per track) surrounded by masive ammount of junk that either too niche for everyday use or half ready for release. Also, devs show they neglect to functionality through delvices releases. Every release is a device that do something one of the delvices in my collection can already do but fincionality is not pimproving at all. Another example of their markelting mindset is mixer they "updated" in v 5.1 i believe. What has been done is rearanging of buttons. New functionality in mixer? No.
But I still got a tiny hope that they may change their mind and concentrate on users rather than numbes. Hope is very small and this behalviour of potentially great company pushed me to start to port all my projects to different DAW. Pesonally if I see another plugins and pretty much zero functionality improvements in next update I will cut all the ties with them and move on. And I will be ready.
i've been saying this for like 5-6 years now: it has become obvious that they're entirely device-oriented. and i'll repeat again, that i think bitwig would make an amaazing plugin (ala reason rack), but not a daw. i was, of course, greeted by an army of demeaning fanboys, even some big youtube stars. for wanting a loved and strong program to evolve. any criticism you will encouter, they'll just turn into "not necessary, i do ok without it, stfu gtfo, use something else if you don't like it". a few examples in this thread already. i noticed that bitwig fans are by far the worst in this regard.

bitwig does a lot of things right, but it does a lot of things wrong. which is true of any platform. and jesus f*ck, these assholes who are just dead-set that their platform *not* improve to cater ever more people and workflows. that's a whole lotta love

i think bitwig has now oriented themselves along this tactic that keeps their salaries stable and they will keep at it as long as it does. i guess they have a very capable and innovative audio team, but as the new browser shows, not too many talented product/workflow designers. and i have lost hope that this will change -- really, if there are kinks that kill your workflow, don't expect anything to change. it hasn't for a very long time and there have been zero indications that the bitwig team is interested in changing it.

I personally moved back to ableton after having used bitwig since version 1. They've been doing a lot of great workflow improvements and innovations in the past few versions.
