You can also just google for "waves revenue" or "waves profit" and find websites that have done this kind of analysis for you. For example, https://growjo.com/company/Waves_Audio says that Waves is estimated to do $99.7M per year in revenue. It looks like they have figures for other companies as well. But this is just as handwavy as doing the math yourself.
I'd be careful with data from such sources, as it's unlikely that knowledgeable humans are involved in "collecting" (or rather making up) that data. For example, it lists "CHOICE FOOD DISTRIBUTION" as Waves' #1 competitor. I guess it's equivalent to asking ChatGPT on such matters: it will confidently give a plausible answer that is purely imaginative, as actual reliable data is not available to it.

Checking out company records is a good tip, though sometimes hard to distill relevant info from them. But it's good to get a feeling on how companies of different sizes are doing.

In any case, it should be noted that the typical business plan approach of getting some market data of the "total adressable market" or some similar made up BS, and then targeting 1% market share is only useful for writing the business plan, because people with no idea about your business (banks, associations giving out grants) want to have something they understand. That doesn't imply that it is of any practical relevance to your conducting the business.
Yeah you're right. Saw loads of reports that were using all sort of data. Very untrustworthy.
