Both PolyMax and Opal are excellent synths: I consider them among the best-sounding software synths available today.
Sadly, that's a large group already (and constantly growing), so I worry that it's not enough to make it "worthwhile" in the market. I'm not entirely sure why these synths were overlooked, but it's certainly a shame they aren't more popular.
...Mmmmmmmmaybe iLok had something to do with it. I know there's a fairly broad resistance to using it... but, well... you can't say ALL UAD products are "overlooked," so that argument doesn't really hold much water, unless there's something specific to synths rather than effects that makes iLok less appealing?
