50 years ago I had a job as a tech at the Conservatorium of Music in Melbourne University, Australia.
I had to look after a big Synthi 100 and 3 or 4 VCS3's, and I taught myself synthesis on the Synthi.
The matrix system and independent modules made it easy to learn on the fly, and the sounds were stellar.
Now I own the XILS 4 and I'm happy to say it looks, feels and sounds as close to the original as you can get, and I'm having enormous fun (and not a little nostalgia) playing with my old friend again.
An absolute bargain for me.
