I dunno.
While there are still plenty of analog style synths being releases there are things like Sumu, Myth and less recently Synplant that are really standing out as something different and don't really have a hardware equivalent outside some really esoteric stuff.
Synths like Avenger have added spectral oscillators, Synthmaster 3 has a bunch of spectral features and Current has some very cool wavetable shaping tools.
I think emulations are always going to be an ongoing thing as there is further refinement that keeps up with the tech. But I get the point that it's increasingly difficult to get excited about these iterative releases.
