Yeah, I got round to listening earlier. Looks like MS5 modulates deeper for things like PWM and quicker ADSR envelope, so definitely an improvement there. Quite a few times the SH5 sounded initially dirtier and more raucous/characterful but with a few tweaks the MS5 got very similar, and obvs the controls are going to be subtly different to a 50yr old synth. Some differences, but the overall character was very much the same ballpark with a handful of pros and cons but only minor, and I think you're right in that a lot of the differences were down to a new synth having properly calibrated VCOs and filters and not as degraded as the old one. There was nothing really that screamed out "imposter" to me. The more I see of the MS5, the more I need to have it. I WILL have it...my precioussssssss.

My list of synths that Behringer have supposedly released but that are going to take forever to get down here at the bottom of the world is growing larger. MS5, Proton, possibly/probably UBXa, with hopefully Jupiter around the corner. I'm intrigued to hear what a K2 mk2 will offer over the mk1? I can't think of much more a MS20 actually needs.
