What I don't understand is why software like Ableton Live or Bitwig Studio does not contain a graphical interface to their API to create custom templates for controllers. This is standard for each and every DJ software, you can map every little function in the software to any kind of DJ controller, 14-bit midi, absolute CC, rotary encoder relative values... Led Output. Kind of what Moss is trying to do with the flexi script, but it is still lacking many functions and somewhat cumbersome to set up.
Why do Live and Bitwig profile themselves as made for live performance with no native built in graphical interface to set up custom templates for any midi controller?? It baffles me, because these softwares should be made for musicians first, not programmers??
Why is every DJ software have this basic function of mapping midi controllers in a graphical environment but Live and Bitwig missing it?
It would be easy to do no? Just look at how it is done in for example Djay Pro and then just copy that...
