I think Urs meant VST3 for the developers. Many hate the VST3 implementation and consider it a step back instead of forward.I get that in theory CLAP can do more, but I already get all the voices I need in all your plugins and I own them all with VST3, and I have never noticed any issues with MIDI using Cubase, or using my hardware sequencersHehehe, how does up to twice the number of voices in Diva, typically something like 20% to 30% less CPU sound? The threadpool feature should be available in quite some CLAP hosts already.
That said, from my observation, before CLAP the general support for plug-in features never really exceeded the basic common denominator of VST2's feature set. The exceptions are rare. It merely seemed that some features were actually taken away (MIDI...) or getting more restricted (e.g. AUv3 can't ever support ARA afaik). CLAP otoh does support ARA, and it does have modern concepts that developers actually implement. It might not be so obvious in July 2024, but I'm confident it will be.
I hope someday it will take off and offer more than VST3 for end users, especially around multi threading
