This could indeed be the case with respect to the M1's architecture, I really don't know, either. 1.8 was just as bad for me. I have no other DAW to test it on.Just downloaded and tested latest 2.2.0 ver for Mac and all seems to be perfectly fine.
No CPU spikes, no distortions, in fact it seems to be lower on CPU consumption on my Mac than the previous version![:)]( "Smile")
Maybe the problem is exclusively tied to M1 processors..? (I don't know, just guessing)
Tested under Cubase 13 Pro and Reason 13.
My Mac is: M2 Pro mini with 32GB RAM and 1 TB SSD.
I'm on an M1 Max, 64GB RAM, 4TB SSD 14" Macbook, Monterey 12.2 and Ableton Live 12. <shrugs>
