with this discussion about Izotope I've jumped ship from RX to Spectral Layers via a crossgrade. I started my Izotope journey with Ozone 4, have updated that numerous times. Also Neutron although I realised by version 3 that I don't like what the AI part of it does and without that available I'd prefer my mixing chain to be done on individual plugins, not neutron. I had the EA reverbs, watched them go to Izotope and then paid for upgrades to Nimbus & R4.
What I don't like is that several times I've had to buy new versions outright because they are cheaper than the upgrades. I know it's not logical but that just seems wasteful.
I've also seen expensive plugins get massively reduced or given away and then abandoned.
I'll continue with Ozone and upgrade sparingly unless I can find another product with an AI assistant* but otherwise they've sort of ruined the buying experience with them.
* what intelligent limiters/ maximisers are out there that are better?
